Pagadian City, June 10 (PIA) – In the pursuit of making
the local government units (LGUs) disaster-free and resilient communities, the
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is conducting a series
of Regional Tapatan on Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation in all regions nationwide.

Paisal Abutazil said, the activity aims to guide the LGUs in effectively
crafting their respective Local Disaster Reduction Action Plans, and further
appraise the local officials of their
roles and responsibilities as prime movers in their respective localities in
times of disasters and calamities.
In Zamboanga Peninsula, the Tapatan on Disaster
Preparedness and Climate Change Adaption will be held on June 19, 2012 at
Astoria Plaza, Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City with DILG Secretary Jesse
Robredo as the guest of honor.
Expected to attend the activity are provincial
governors, city and municipal mayors including their respective Risk Reduction
Disaster Action Officers, national government agencies (NGAs) and civil society
organizations (CSOs) in the region.
The role, participation and active involvement of the
invited participants to this activity are very vital being one of the
government’s prime partners in its effort towards a disaster-ready and
